December Wrap-Up, Part 2

December Wrap-Up, Part 1 Wow, I had big plans for these last two weeks because I quit my job and was going to have a ton of free time, but then I got pretty sick and just crawled into bed for several days and did nothing but watch YouTube. And ICYMI from this morning, here…

Top 10 Reads of 2019

Wow, this is it. The end of a decade. I read some truly amazing books this year, and also more books than I ever thought possible. For a bit, I played with the idea of a Top 20 if I could read 200 books, but alas, I am a bit short, so we’re here with…

Holiday Break Readathon TBR!

Today is my favorite day of the entire year. I don’t know what it is, but the day after Christmas is just the absolute best to me. I always take it off, my family always has it off, and we always just lounge and do absolutely nothing. No shopping, no leaving the house, nothing. We…

An Adventure in Tolkien: The Unfinished Tales, Third Age

Previously on An Adventure in Tolkien: I’m still trying to pretend I don’t know that Aragorn and Arwen are first cousins. Annnnnd we’re back! I promise this is the last post you’ll see from me regarding The Unfinished Tales, though nowhere near the last Tolkien post. There are still SEVERAL more to come just about…

TTT: Books I Hope to Find Under My Tree

It’s here, it’s here, it’s here! Halloween is great, but CHRISTMAS! There is nothing more in the world that I love than Christmas. I have a lot of days off to just snuggle up with my entire family and my cats, to read lots of books, drink lots of tea, and hope for snow to…

2019 Goals: Final Check-In!

That’s it, friends! 2019 is almost at an end, and it’s time to check in with how I’ve done with my goals for the year. I’m posting this with a week and a half left of the month, so I know there’s still some time left to accomplish things, but let’s all be honest with…

Favorite Covers of 2019

Look, I recognize this is basically just another TTT post, but on a Thursday, but I have so many favorite things that I want to scream about, so here we are. I think we’re all also on the same page about my cover love, as well. I 100% will buy something based on the cover…

An Adventure in Tolkien: The Unfinished Tales, Second Age

Previously on An Adventure in Tolkien: I got very heated about Túrin & Beleg, to the point where I had to split this damn novel up. Okay, look, I tried. I really intended to keep all of The Unfinished Tales in its own little post, but Tolkien had to go and do me dirty with…

Top 5 Contemporary Reads of 2019

I’m sure no one is surprised by this, based on my reading, but 7/10 of my Top 10 for this year are some kind of fantasy, and of the 3 leftover, 2 are nonfiction, so that doesn’t really leave a whole lot of room to discuss my favorite contemporary reads of the year. Because of…

December Wrap-Up, Part 1

Of my ambitious 10 TBR books for this month, I’ve already four, and I’ve begun a fifth, so I’d say I’m right on track considering I’ve read five in the first two weeks, and one of those would have been another TBR book if I didn’t go off the rails for a second. I’ve got…

I started rewatching Shadowhunters last night, and let me be the first to say, it’s still as fantastic as the first time. I’ve been missing Clary always, but Magnus & Alec specifically, and they are already a joy to witness again.
Sunday vibes. 🌿
This year has been rough. Last year wasn’t great, either, but I’m currently on a hiatus from the blog, I haven’t been posting here much, if at all, reading and writing are pretty laughable, and I’ve just been feeling very discouraged about everything. There’s nothing specific happening to make all of my creative outlets go up in flames, though. Work is better than ever, I love teaching at the gym, my rock climbing is finally improving, and I’m about to see my best friends every single month for the rest of the year. And yet, words have completely disappeared.
Now that I’m actually making it a point to try to read daily again, my weekend plans are to finally and happily binge my way through the rest of the Soulbound series. I’m hopefully going to be back on the blog in a week or two, as well, AND I’m crawling my way back toward writing, so my creative life is starting to look up again.
I said to my friend the other day that I was going to keep my twelve book TBR for Pride because if anything was going to save my reading this year, it was going to be something wildly queer, and I think I’m onto something.
I haven’t quite gotten back to a place of daily reading and working on my novel again, but it’s happening slowly, and it feels so damn good.
