Y’all, I crushed it on the reading game this week. I don’t even know how I did it, either, because I have had absolutely no free time, but I’ve just been squirreling away minutes here and there until I was starting and finishing books left and right, which is probably going to end soon given one of my May goals is to read a tome.

recently finished
The Second Death of Edie and Violet Bond was so much better than I was expecting, and though it was still pretty standard, I loved the writing a lot, and I’m definitely going to be reading more from this author. I also started and finished The Bone Way, in part because I was feeling a little antsy about my Goodreads goal for the year, which I haven’t felt in a long ass while, so I certainly hope it’s not a return thing because no thanks. But I also wanted something gay and fantasy, so I figured I’d crush a quick book.
currently reading
I intended to have the following book in my recently finished, but circumstances meant that I didn’t read after work on Tuesday, so neither are done yet. But! Because I’m an idiot, I’ve only just now started reading Year of the Reaper, which is so freaking good that I was having some form of literary cute aggression toward it and ended up physically shaking the book several times because I was so excited. The brothers + young king + trauma just had me shrieking with delight, and I’m an idiot because I felt the same way about Lucier’s other duology, and I’ve just had this sitting on my shelf forever when I knew that I was going to five star it within seconds of starting it. I anticipate finishing this pretty quickly because it’s fantastic, and I need to know what happens.
I’m also still listening to Fellowship of the Ring, which I think is probably going to carry me through the rest of April and probably throughout Scotland in May. I’ve been both not taking my time with it in that I listen to whole chapters all at once, but also that I’m letting a lot of time drift in between each, so we’ll see.

what’s next
Obviously, like, literally none of these books were on any weekly check-in recently, so all of my plans continue to fall through, but. I’m leaving for Scotland in less than a month, and I have some plans. I’d like to read Belladonna, The Scapegracers, and The Shattered City before I leave, which is way more than enough time, but I’m going to try to focus on the first two for the second half of this week and then start The Shattered City after April is over so I can really focus on it.
I also need to start thinking about what books I want to bring to Scotland, but that is really just a whole other future me problem to address.
