Weekly Check-In: February 1, 2023

It’s been a week of slow reading, but also of consistent reading, and I’m really pleased with that. It’s been such a struggle to read consistently that to find myself sitting down every night before bed to read has been making me so happy.

recently finished

At the time of writing this, it’s Tuesday morning, around 10AM, and I haven’t finished Dark Rise yet, but I only have fifty pages left, and truly the only thing that stopped me from bingeing it Monday night was the fact that it was 11:30PM, and I really needed to go to bed. Thus, I intend to finish it in about two hours when I sit down for lunch. And holy moly, but it’s so freaking good. I’m so excited to see how it ends, and very relieved to know that, hopefully, the next one is coming out this summer.

currently reading

I’ve gotten absolutely nowhere with The Holy Wild Grimoire, but I’d like to actually make some headway with it now that I’m done with Dark Rise. I keep trying to read two books at once again, and it keeps not working. Although I do understand why I wanted to read two books at once with the Grimoire because it’s so intense, but trying to read another one at the same time just meant I didn’t pick this one up at all.

I did also start listening to Clanlands because Waypoints was so freaking good, and I just want to keep listening to Sam Heughan talking about Scotland. (I know, who am I, listening to three audiobooks in the span of only a few weeks!)

what’s next

Is anyone else sick of me saying the same things for this section? Same. But here we are, still talking about Steel Tide and The River of Silver and The Weeping Tide. I doubt I’ll actually get to all three of those by the time we arrive at next week because I have YTT this weekend, but I’m hopeful that since I’m finishing Dark Rise today, that means I’ll have a solid amount of days to try to power through as many of them as I can.

It’s a wonderful feeling when the interest in reading returns. 🙂 Hope it keeps going.

It feels so sudden, too, even though I know that I’ve been steadily working back toward it for a few months, but, this month in particular, it’s just been like OH HI THERE.
