The what are you reading Wednesday posts are hosted by Taking on a World of Words! I’m back at work this week, and while it’s been wonderful to be back, I am still feeling short of breath from my bout with COVID, so it’s been a fun time trying to get back up to speed. I am absolutely crushing it on my Pride TBR so far this month, though, so I’m very excited for this post.

what did you recently finish reading?
Not gonna lie, I adjusted my Goodreals goal down to 75. This is not the first year I’ve done this, and I ended up reading 123 books that year, and while I don’t think that’s going to happen this year, it’s taken a lot of the stress out of reading that I’m now not hellishly behind on my goal, but one book ahead. I’m still aiming for 100, but that number was really started to put me over the edge, seeing that I was ten books behind, so this is for the better right now.
That said, I have been in a fever dream of reading, and it’s been fantastic. I was loling hard at myself for thinking I could read twelve books for Pride, but I’m already on my fourth book as I’m drafting this on Monday, and who knows, maybe I’ll be cracking into my fifth by the time this posts on Wednesday. Since we last chatted, I’ve read Hunters of the Lost City, If This Gets Out, I Kissed Shara Wheeler, and fifty pages of Act Cool before I DNF’d it.
There was nothing inherently wrong with Act Cool, I just really didn’t jive with the writing, and since I’ve a) been struggling so much with reading and b) had just read three fantastic books, I didn’t want to send myself back into a bad time, so I’m not continuing on with it.
what are you currently reading?
I started In Deeper Waters last night, and I swear to Satan, if Athlen isn’t a merman, I’m going to have words for this book. It’s hilariously over the top so far, and it’s not great, but I’m having a great time with it. I’m trying to stick with one book at a time, too, so hopefully this section will continue to be short.

what do you think you’ll read next?
I actually put my TBR in an order??? Wild, I know, but I want to actually try to read everything, so I split it up into gay, lesbian, trans & nonbinary, one after another until we get through all of them. Thus, up next is Ophelia After All and Cafe con Lychee since I’m currently on my gay book, and I’m going to follow this TBR, or else. It helps that I have them stacked up in order next to my bed, so I’m literally just picking up the next one off the pile as soon as I’m done with the previous one, and it’s a pretty good system, I might have to start doing this for more things.
