The what are you reading Wednesday posts are hosted by Taking on a World of Words! We’re back! And we’re looking exactly the same as when we last spoke, of course. Well. I’m happier and in a better place than I was, but my reading is in about the same place, and I am okay with that.

what did you recently finish?
I guess it’s not really true that I’m in the same place with my reading because I have read a few books since we last checked in. I read the new Locke & Key compilation, which ended up having two stories that I’d read before, so while it was good, only about half of it was new. I also read Bravely, which was leagues better than the Dreamer trilogy, but still not quite the Stiefvater that I know & love, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for whatever’s up next. Although. Wait. Guys. Did anyone else notice that she hashtagged The Scorpio Races in her recent post about upcoming titles? Because she promised she was never going back to it, and after how much the Dreamer trilogy has ruined TRC for me, I really, really hope we’re not about to see the same thing happen. I’m good with where we left Puck & Sean, and I honestly don’t want more.
I’m also going to go out on a limb and say that I’ll have finished A Crown of Iron & Silver by the time this posts because I read half of it on Saturday, and I fully anticipate reading the other half over the course of Sunday & Monday because I freaking love these books so damn much. (Edit: I was correct, I finished it Sunday night.)
what are you currently reading?
I am drafting this Monday morning, when I haven’t yet started anything yet, so I’m not totally sure. However, I am now only ten books behind my Goodreads goal, I’m finally feeling better from COVID, and I’ve got plans.

what do you think you’ll read next?
Obviously, I’m going to read A Vigil in the Mourning next, which is hands down the stupidest title I have ever seen in my entire life, and I’m so ready. However, I’d also like to get some other books read. Though we’re entering Pride, and I have twelve books on my TBR, I would like to do some preorder reading before I get cracking on that. I have two full days before Pride starts, so I think I’m going to try to tackle Hunters of the Lost City and The Weeping Tide. I may regret snagging two middle grades in a row, but I’ve got a whole slew of young adult contemporary coming up, and it might end up being a nice little bridge in between the explicit sex scenes in the Soulbound series and all the gay panic. If I also get to some other things, well. I wouldn’t put it past me because my mood as I’m writing this is to start about seventeen books and then just power read them all.
(Also, can we please appreciate the gorgeous aesthetic of those three books together? Damn.)
