The what are you reading Wednesday posts are hosted by Taking on a World of Words! I am nearly ten whole books behind on my Goodreads goal, and I am somehow less freaked out than I thought I was going to be, and I’m pretty proud of myself for being chill.

what did you recently finish?
I finally finished A Thousand Beginnings & Endings. It took me way longer than I was expecting, which is dumb because I enjoyed it a lot, but I don’t think a short story collection was in the cards for me right now because I dragged my feet a lot. But I finally got it wrapped up over the weekend, though that was literally the only thing I’ve read in the last week.
what are you currently reading?
I’m in the middle of All Souls Near & Nigh, and when I tell you that there was an explicit sex scene within the first fifty pages that had my eyebrows skyrocketing at the content, WOWZA. I forgot what this kind of writing was like! I always do a fade to black, or just really crafty vague writing if I want to do the whole scene, but this is just all in. Details everywhere. It’s hilarious how quickly my fanfiction face has come back–while reading smut, total poker face, but the second they get cuddly, I am a goner.

what do you think you’ll read next?
I mean, it really shouldn’t be a surprise, A Crown of Iron & Silver is up next. I fully intend to carry on with this series until I’m done with it. I bought all of them, and they’re stacked up on top of my TBR shelves because I plan on just picking the next one up as soon as I’m done with the previous one. I need some easy reading, and I don’t have any Shadowhunters handy, so this is truly the next best thing.
I would like to also read some other things this week, though. I have four new releases in my stack now, so it’d be nice to snag at least one of those. I do have two middle grades, and Amanda Foody just announced details for the third Wilderlore today, so I’m thinking I might snag The Weeping Tide while I’m thinking of it. Though I’d like to get to more than that, it’s very unlikely, and if some miracle happens, it’ll just be the fourth book in the Soulbound series.
