The what are you reading Wednesday posts are hosted by Taking on a World of Words! And shout-out this week to Kim @ Traveling in Books because I love the way she titles her Sunday Sum-Up posts, and I know that’s such a small thing, but it just looks neat and organized, and I’m taking a page out of her book (ha) to do the same by just dating my titles each week rather than titling them because ya girl has run out of ideas for funny titles for this weekly post, and I don’t want to do it anymore.

Y’all, I am in good shape. Not only are ALL of my blog posts written until the second week of April (not counting the ones I plan to write while in Portugal), but I’m in a good place with my reading, and I freaking wrote this weekend!!! I’m really hoping to keep the writing mojo going so I can power through his section and get this damn story done. I didn’t read as much as I wanted to this weekend, but I’m so excited about the writing that I powered through a heck ton of reading Monday & Tuesday.

what did you recently finish reading?

I think I’ve only finished one book since last we talked? That seems wild, but I also didn’t read at all over the weekend to make room for writing, and Goodreads tells me I’m one book behind, so I guess that makes sense. Well, I did finish Black Girl Unlimited, and I’m still not sure how to talk about it other than it’s a damn masterpiece.

what are you currently reading?

As I’m drafting this, on Monday, I’m currently in the middle of This Poison Heart, but I’m hoping that that will not be the case by Wednesday. This book has been an almost immediate five star for me, I’ve already preordered the sequel, and I have no doubt that it’ll end up on my top ten at the end of the year, so although I didn’t read it this weekend, I do honestly think I’m going to finish it Tuesday night. I’m also 150 pages in, and I’ll get to 200 by the time Monday closes up shop, so yeah, that’s looking realistic.

Thus, I should be currently reading A Sprinkle of Spirits when this goes live! I probably won’t have started it yet, but that’s in my queue for up next.

what do you think you’ll read next?

There are a lot of possibilities with this one. Over the weekend, I watched the 2020 adaptation of The Secret Garden while Gallant was just sitting on my shelf, and, unsurprisingly, I didn’t know that it was a Gothic Secret Garden, so here we are, and now I want to read it so damn bad. I’m half tempted to take it with me to Portugal instead of something else, but that’s also a whole eleven days away, and that seems unfathomable. I don’t know! No matter what, I’m reading A Sprinkle of Spirits next because it’ll take me probably two days to read it and no more, but after that? I’m thinking about Gallant, but I know that I’m supposed to be tackling The Ravens and The Midnight Bargain. Can I do all four?

Let’s see, A Sprinkle of Spirits is 336 pages, Gallant is 352 pages, The Ravens is 400 pages, and The Midnight Bargain is 384 pages. For a total of 1,472 pages, I’d have to read 133 pages in the next eleven days, which is doable except: a) I probably won’t read on Friday, b) I don’t want to be scrambling to finish next Thursday, and c) we have to take the first two into account. A Sprinkle of Spirits is middle grade, and I’ll whip through that in no time. Gallant is also twofold–it’s Schwab, and it’s a weird size with illustrations, so I also feel like I’ll whip through it in no time. Let’s call it ten days, which is 147 pages per day, and which is probably not going to happen unless I really haul ass on my focus, so. Oh, shit, I forgot I still have 200 pages left of This Poison Heart. Clearly, one of these is getting the boot, and I just haven’t figured out which one yet.

I don’t know what I’m reading next! As you can see, the possibilities are multiple, and it’s daunting.

Woohoo! I inspire people! Glad I could be helpful in the organization side of things. It’s not often that I’m helpful in that area.

It’s just so much easier than trying to think up a new title every week, and neater looking!
