WWW: March 2, 2022

ICYMI, I’ve hopped on the what are you reading WWW Wednesday posts, which are hosted by Taking on a World of Words, and my normal Wednesday posts, usually discussions, are moving to Thursdays. I may not have read a lot this weekend, but my goodness, did I need it. After the debacle of last weekend, I was able to work from home on Friday due to snow, and I didn’t have a ton of work to do, so it turned into a very relaxing weekend of recuperation. I got a lot of blogging done, too, so I’m in way better shape, and I’m not mad that I didn’t read a lot because it meant that I was able to power through, like, ten posts or something.

I was an absolute powerhouse on Friday. With everyone working from home, not a whole lot happened at work, so I spent most of the day alternating between writing blog posts, blog hopping, and reading 300 damn pages of The Hate U Give. I ended up finishing it Friday night, and though I wanted to watch the adaptation, my weekly movie buddy was not up for it, so I’m going to have to find time to squeeze it in elsewhere. It was excellent, though, and it was definitely a great way to kick off the weekend.

The rest of the weekend was pretty focus on the blog, so I only ended up reading the first 50 pages of Black Girl Unlimited. I’m really not sure how I’m going to review this book and be able to talk about it coherently. Only 50 pages in, and I’m already a mess from it, and I’m sure it’s only going to get harder to read from here, but wow. This is a powerful, heart-aching book, and I’m glad that it’ll be my final book for Black History month.

I shelved the rest of my Black History month books over the weekend and swapped it out for my women’s history month TBR, which goes live tomorrow. It’s also my birthday month, and I’m going on a two week solo trip to Portugal, so I was really feeling the witchy vibes. I’m trying to be pretty specific about what I take with me to Portugal since I can’t pack too many books, and I don’t want them to be hefty, so the only books I’m allowed to read in the next two weeks are:

  1. This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron
  2. A Sprinkle of Spirits by Anna Meriano
  3. The Ravens by Kass Morgan & Danielle Paige
  4. The Midnight Bargain by CL Polk

I really want to make sure I read Meriano before I go to Portugal since I’m taking the third book in the series with me, so I’m going to focus on that and Bayron’s for this week. I’m also under no impression that I’m actually going to finish this TBR because who the hell sets an eight book TBR if they only read six the month before? This idiot. Anywho, I’m slowly getting back to basics with everything, which means I’ve been reading more, catching up on blogging, and actually finding time to write, so here’s hoping I can snag both of these books this week!
