WWW: February 16, 2022

ICYMI, I’ve hopped on the what are you reading WWW Wednesday posts, which are hosted by Taking on a World of Words, and my normal Wednesday posts, usually discussions, are moving to Thursdays. Did I read anything this weekend? No? That sounds about right.

what did you recently finish reading?

For some reason, reading I Must Betray You took five damn days. I have no idea why! I love Ruta Sepetys, and while this definitely wasn’t my favorite of hers–that’s a tie between Out of the Easy and The Fountains of Silence–it was fantastic, and I ended up reading the last 100 pages in a frenzy. Still, it took me forever to read this, and I didn’t end up reading literally anything else during those five days, so that’s about it.

what are you currently reading?

I’m drafting this Tuesday night, which is not something I usually do (I love drafting this post on Monday morning and pretending I’m going to do big things in between then and when this posts on Wednesday), but I’m actually happy to have done that this time because I can say that I’ve started Honey Girl! And holy hell, but I love it. The writing reminds me so much of my own, and I’m just in love with the characters so far. Rogers is definitely going to become an auto-buy for me, and I’m hopeful that I’ll zoom right through Honey Girl because damn, but I’m loving it.

what do you think you’ll read next?

Honey Girl is a little under 300 pages, and I’m 100 pages deep right now, so I’m thinking I can probably get it squared away by Thursday. It was not what was up next on my TBR for Black History Month, which was The Hate U Give, so that’s still where I’m leaning for the end of the week. I’ve been vibing fantasy, though, so I’m thinking about doing the thing I always end up being mad at myself for doing and starting The Gilded Ones at the same time. It’s been a while since I read two books at once, but I’m falling behind a bit on my reading for this month, and I’d like to get most, if not all, of my scheduled books read, so we’re going to aim for having Honey Girl, The Hate U Give, AND The Gilded Ones finished by the time we next chat.

I have Honey Girl on my TBR and I can’t WAIT to read it. I’ve heard so much about it all around and I feel like it’d be the kind of book I could fall for. SO happy you’re enjoying it so much! 🙂

It’s so damn good! It was a five star for me pretty immediately, and it’s definitely going on my top ten reads this year.
