ICYMI, I’ve hopped on the what are you reading WWW Wednesday posts, which are hosted by Taking on a World of Words, and my normal Wednesday posts, usually discussions, are moving to Thursdays. Not gonna lie, I had a bit of a week, which is such a bummer because I started last week so hopeful, and I was so ready to read all the things over the weekend, and then I just curled up with Midnight Mass and said fuck it.

what did you recently finish reading?

I literally only finished Farmer Giles and Wootton Major, but I’m not mad about it. A Psalm of Storms & Silence is 550 pages, which is taking me a hot minute to finish–though I likely will be finished with it by the time this goes live, I’ve only got 150 pages left on Monday–but I’m really enjoying it, so I’m glad I’m not speeding through it. I did post a review of Tolkien’s children’s books, though, and I’m very happy with having read those three so quickly.

what are you currently reading?

As above, I’m about 150 pages from the end of Storms & Silence on Monday, so my plan is to finish it Tuesday night. I’ve been getting better at reading at work, too, so I think this is actually feasible. Ever since we moved from eating in our cars to in our brand spanking new cafe, I’ve been having trouble reading because I’m just so excited to be eating live and in person with the boys that I talk to them all lunch. But I need to maximize my time, and I can talk to them all day, so I’ve been bringing my book and actually cracking it open each day.

what do you think you’ll read next?

Next up on my TBR is still The Hate U Give, so I’m hoping to start that Wednesday. I may be about to deviate a bit, too, because not only did I get Base Notes by Lara Elena Donnelly, but I got I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys AND The Weeping Tide by Amanda Foody. I am shook, y’all, these are all books that I’m so excited for this year, but especially the new Sepetys. If I have it my way, I’ll read The Hate U Give throughout the week so I can open up the weekend for Sepetys & Foody. I honestly think I’m likely to wait to read Donnelly until next month–ohhhhh, hell yeah, maybe I’ll take it to Portugal–so I’ll get back to my TBR after this weekend, but yeahhhh, I’m too excited not to read these.
