WWW: December 15, 2021

ICYMI, I’ve hopped on the what are you reading WWW Wednesday posts, which are hosted by Taking on a World of Words, and my normal Wednesday posts, usually discussions, are moving to Thursdays. I think this may be the first time ever that I ignored my goals where I was ignoring my goals and ended up just accomplishing my goals.

I’m technically still reading A History of Wild Places by Shea Ernshaw as I’m drafting this, but I’ll also be finished with it tonight, so I’m counting it as recently finished. I meant to finish it last night, but I got home late, ended up watching some Schitt’s Creek “on accident”, and then was hella tired, so only ended up reading 50 of the 100 pages I had left. That usually drives me batshit, to only have that much left and not just finish it, but alas. I had to go to bed. I did also finish Chain of Gold over the weekend, though, and it was amazing!

I started Girls of Fate and Fury by Natasha Ngan, and though I’m only 150 pages in, I think I’ll probably finish it by Thursday, at the very latest. I’m loving it so far, and I know that I’m going to motor through the last 300 pages in a blink. I also don’t think I’ll start reading another book until I’m done with this one because, while I did enjoy switching between Ngan & Ernshaw this weekend, I’d like to focus on Ngan for the second half of the book since it’s the finale.

Oh, have I got an end of the year plan. Here’s my chaotic brain: this week’s end of the year TTT was contemporaries, but next week’s is sequels, and I wanted to read Girls of Fate and Fury before then because I’m assuming it’s going to be on the list, but I want to make sure before I just willy nilly add it. But the following week is going to be just top reads, so I wanted to read both Ernshaw and Little Thieves by then in case either of those ended up on the list, as well as All of Us Villains because it’s Foody, so it’s got some strong possibilities. And all of this is completely self-inflicted book stress, but I’m still here doing it anyway, so.

Come hell or high water, I’m reading Little Thieves and All of Us Villains next. I think, given the pace of my usual reading, I can be done with both by middle of next week. That will leave me with Chain of Iron over the long weekend for Christmas, which was what I wanted to be reading then anyway, and then maybe I’ll be able to sneak in another one or two books before the end of the year? If I’m able to, I’ve got some thoughts on that, as well, but that’ll wait until another week’s WWW.
