WWW: December 8, 2021

ICYMI, I’ve hopped on the what are you reading WWW Wednesday posts, which are hosted by Taking on a World of Words, and my normal Wednesday posts, usually discussions, are moving to Thursdays. And yup, you read that right, my whole family is in quarantine. I have tested negative twice, but two of my family members are currently positive, and I’m trying to keep my distance as much as possible, both to protect my cats and so that I can get back to work. But that means I’m not teaching yoga, there’s a whole lot less I can do remotely for work, and I’ve got a lot more free time. I am definitely going stir crazy, and my lumbar is in so much pain from not being at my desk that I can barely walk, and my cats are having the best time of their lives. They’re so hyped that not only am I here every day right now, but I’m in the room with them every second. Literally best possible situation for them.

I actually managed to accomplish some of my goals? Honestly not surprised given all I did this weekend was read and watch Netflix because what the hell else am I supposed to do right now. I did, however, not quite stick with the books I had set aside because my contemporary bug was still itching, so I ended up reading not only Thanks A Lot, Universe, but Here the Whole Time, as well, and uhhhhh, we’ll chat more in a second.

I’m just under 200 pages into Chain of Gold, and it’s fantastic so far. I can definitely see myself finishing it this week, though it may take all of this week to read it. Shadowhunters usually take me about a week, and I’m starting to worry a bit that I won’t get to Chain of Iron this month. Maybe I’ll tackle it during Christmas, give myself a week break in between them. I don’t envision picking up another book in between now and when this posts on Wednesday, but the contemporary bug hasn’t quite left me yet, and I also wouldn’t be surprised if I did end up starting another one.

In an ideal world (ha), where all my plans go according to plan (double ha), I’ll be starting Girls of Fate & Fury this week because I’ll do some serious damage of Chain of Gold in the next couple of days, and I’ll manage to finish it early.

In the real world, where I’m still eyeballing my contemporaries, here’s what I actually think will happen. I am going to read Chain of Gold each day because truly what the hell else am I supposed to do, but I think I’ll probably sneak another two contemporaries in there. I know! Not just one, but two! What the heck! I’ve read only fantasy for four months, and I’m suddenly craving all the gay. The two I’ve been looking at are Can’t Take That Away by Steven Salvatore and The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth. Will I actually read these? Who knows, but if I were to pick something up that wasn’t my two scheduled fantasies, that’d be it.
