WWW: December 1, 2021

ICYMI, I’ve hopped on the what are you reading WWW Wednesday posts, which are hosted by Taking on a World of Words, and my normal Wednesday posts, usually discussions, are moving to Thursdays. Lolllllll, remember when I said I was going to read four books in five days, and then I only read one?

Admittedly, there were several times that I also picked up A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir and brought it with me to the couch, but then I just read Violent instead. Granted, I also did some writing, worked through my backlog of blog hopping, and got almost all of my Christmas shopping done, but yeah, ya girl really didn’t read at all, and it was a bummer.

I’ve got We Used to Be Friends by Amy Spalding in my bag, which was not at all planned, but I haven’t read a contemporary since August, and that was a contemporary that I was guaranteed to like, so I really haven’t read one since about June or July, which means it’s been straight fantasy for three months. I’m tired! I would like a break from the magic! I’m hoping to start We Used to Be Friends today–I always draft this on a Monday, which is usually right after I’ve binged whatever I had left over the weekend–and get a solid amount done since I’m not climbing before yoga and then also start Thanks A Lot, Universe by Chad Lucas when I get home. If I can snag these two queer contemporaries that I meant to read in June, I’ll be hyped, especially because they seem like I’ll fly through them.

I know, I know, I’m always lying out all these amazing books I’m going to read and then not doing any of them, and I am here to also do that again right now. My reading game has been on point lately! I read eleven books in November! I haven’t done that in forever, y’all, so I want to keep hyping myself up and keep reading all the damn books.

If I’m right in thinking that I can knock out two contemporaries in about three days–I am almost definitely right, I’ll read half of a contemporary in one day, no sweat–I’ve got a huge TBR set for December. I want to get through almost all of my leftover preorders from the year, so I’m either going to start Chain of Gold or Girls of Fate & Fury is going to show up by Wednesday and sob me straight into a grave. Either way, those are definitely what’s up for this week, and okay, I’m going to try to be reasonable. Clare’s books always take me a minimum of a week to read, though this one is 592 pages, so it might not actually be that bad? We’ll see. Come hell or high water, I’m finishing my Shadowhunters goal this year, so that’s up this week no matter what, and I’m going to not say that I’m going to try a third book this week, too, because we all know that’s foolish.

(I am dyinggggg over the fact that I haven’t read Little Thieves yet.)
