I haven’t done a scheduled TBR outside of my typical monthly TBR in ages, and I’m so excited!  These posts are always hilarious to me because they’re literally just me rambling on about what books I hope to read, but I will 100% read this type of post from everyone else because we’re all just nosy and wondering what everyone is currently reading, and it’s great.  So olá, happy Black History Month!  Not only am I going to be reading a ton of amazing books, I’m also going to be buying some, hopefully, so stay tuned for a haul post later on in the month!

I have so many fantasies on my TBR shelf, and it’s taking me half an age to get through them, which is honestly just such a happy problem to have, but the cover of Daughters of Nri by Reni K. Amayo has been whispering to me for months now, and I need to finally read it.  I mean, look at it.  It’s freaking gorgeous, and I am ready.  Admittedly, I don’t really remember what it’s about except for sisters, though that’s pretty evident by the cover & title, but that’s just par for the course with me.  Everything is a surprise because I remember nothing.

I so remember all the hype surrounding Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron, and, like usual, I fell into the hype and then didn’t read it because I just like to torture myself with the possibilities on my TBR.  I am The Worst.  This sounds absolutely incredible, though, and I’m so happy that I ended up with the hardcover because that cover, damn.  Yes, I am constantly swayed by covers, and no, I am not ashamed at all.

Let’s be real, A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown is the first one I’m going to read this month, for two reasons.  One: the sequel comes out later, and I want to be on that hype train.  Two: I keep thinking about reading this and then diverting to a different fantasy, so it’s time to finally kick my butt in gear and discover why so many people are just in love with this story.

Out of all the covers on this list–and wow, how did this become a cover party??–Tyler Johnson Was Here by Jay Coles is the most beautiful.  I am always going to be swayed by pretty covers in general, but add some flowers to it, and I am a goner.  I’m always really happy to be halving this TBR between fantasies and contemporaries because though I’ve been knee-deep in a fantasy swamp lately (of joy, that makes it sound like I’m not happy about it, I very much am, it’s a fire swamp of wonder), I’m craving some non-magical stories.

It was a real challenge, deciding whether or not to save If It Makes You Happy by Claire Kann for Pride this year (and whoooooo boy have I got a Pride TBR ready that is way too long for me to accomplish again), but it’s been a book that I’ve nearly picked up several times in the last few months, so I don’t think I’ll make it to Pride, and I want to read it now.  I’m hoping it’ll be an absolute delight just based on that joyous cover, and I’m ready for a good time.

I feel so inadequate for not having read Dear Martin by Nic Stone already, especially considering how short it is!  Am I saving it for a rainy day?  An all-day marathon?  Who the heck knows!  But the time is now, and I think I should probably stick this one into the middle of the month so that I can probably recover from it with something lighter after.  (She says, with three high fantasies and another potentially heavy contemporary on the list, look I clearly swing in one direction mostly.)
