I saw this over at Nine Tale Vixen, and I’m always ready to call myself out about reading way too many books at once, so this sounded like the perfect tag for me. I can’t seem to find who created this, but if you know, let me know, and I’ll add credit in!
How many books do you usually read at once?
This really depends, but usually 2-3. If I’m feeling stressed out, I’ll quickly drop that down to one and just focus on it, but most of the time, I like to bounce between a nonfiction or adult, a fantasy, and a middle grade or contemporary. It’s nice to be able to slide out of a heavy fantasy and just read about two teenagers in love sometimes, so I like being able to step into different shoes.

How do you decide when to switch between multiple reads?
Usually, I try to be fair to what I’m reading, especially if I’m reading more than one book at once. If I’m reading three books at the same time, I’ll try to read at least 50 pages of each during the day, and then, depending on if I end up reading more than 50 of one, I’ll either stick with one or grab the third. Generally, I read 50 pages of whatever I feel like I should be reading in the morning so I have the night to just read whatever the hell I want. I’m also usually reading a TBR book and something else at the same time, so that’s where the being “fair” thing comes into account.
Do you ever switch bookmarks partway through a book?
hahahahahahaha
this is assuming I use a bookmark
AND NOT DOG EAR MY PAGES
Go ahead, @ me all you want, I’m going to keep dog-earing my pages, and I don’t care.
Where do you keep the book(s) you’re currently reading?
During the day, they usually follow me around. Right now, I’m working remotely, and my work station is at my dining room table, so there’s generally a stack of three-five books to the left of me. If it’s the weekend, I’m usually on the couch in the living room, so it depends on which side of the couch I’m on. My books are usually to the left of me if I’m in the recliner or to the right if I’m on the chaise. And if it’s time for bed, they go in a stack at the foot of my bed on the floor while a couple sprawl on my bed to make me feel guilty for not reading them.
What time of day do you read the most?
All times, honestly.

I don’t have a specific time when I like to read most, but whenever I can squeeze it in. I generally read on my lunch break from work and at night, but if I’ve got spare time in the morning before work or in the afternoon if I’ve gotten out early and gone for tea, or during savasana while I’m teaching, or just literally whenever. If there’s time to read, I’m doing it. I always have a book on me, so I’m always prepared.
How long do you typically read in one session?
If I can help it, I read 50 pages at a time, which I can do in about an hour. Generally, that’s all I have time for until night, when I can read uninterrupted for 2-3 hours. I have a constant goal of 50 pages per day, and while I don’t reach that sometimes, I actively work toward it.
Do you read hardcovers with the dust jacket off?
On! I really love dust jackets, so I always keep them on my books.

What position do you mainly use to read?
wait where’s that Chris Hemsworth gif

Is there a comfortable position to read?

Actually, I do like this one. I’ll snuggle down in a stack of pillows, rest the book on my thighs with my knees bent, and that supports both my neck and doesn’t tire out my arms.

Do you take your current read with you everywhere you go?
YES. Erin just rolls her eyes anytime I show up at her house with a minimum of five books packed even though I’m usually on there for three days and I never actually read anything while I’m there. If I’m going on vacation, also minimum of five books. If I’m going out in the world, probably a minimum of two. If I’m leaving my house to go into my backyard, definitely two despite the fact that my person library is three seconds away at a slow jog. Like?? It can’t be helped, I always have an insane amount of books with me wherever I go, whether I’m just changing rooms in my house or actually going out into the world.

How often do you update your Goodreads reading progress?
Bro, multiple times a day. I’m obsessed with Goodreads. If I know I’m done reading a book for the day, it gets updated. If I still have a pencil stuck in (I guess I use pencils as temporary bookmarks? But I always dog-ear when I’m done, I just keep my place with a pencil. Mechanical, I don’t normally write, just highlight. Look, I probably should use bookmarks because I use the pencil to keep my place while I’m reading, but dog-ear when I’m done for the day.), I won’t update until I’m putting it away at the end of the night. But yeah, I’ll update sporadically throughout the day whenever I’m done with something, even if that “done” doesn’t mean I’ve finished it.
