My Most Anticipated Releases of 2019, Part 2!

I’m gonna be real with you guys for a second. Today is Thor’s Day, so I’m supposed to be posting a short story. I have absolutely zero motivation to write one right now, and that’s for two reasons. One, I’ve been reading like a maniac the past few days. Two, I’m in novel-writing mode right now while I try to finish sister witches before, dear god, next Friday. Thus, I’m allowing myself not to write a short story today, but hopefully you’ll have the first chapter of sister witches next week, and until then, here’s something else!

In January, I posted about my most anticipated releases for 2019, and at that point, I only had 14 books preordered. HA

HA HA

I’ve added a few books to that list since January, and since I said I might swing back halfway through the year to talk about any new ones, here we are! It’s almost June, and I’ve got 7 books to add to my anticipated releases. As before, these are organized alphabetically, not by my level of excitement, and while the titles are linked to Goodreads, the paragraphs below each book are not the summaries, just me flailing BECAUSE BOOKS.

Shadow & Flame by Mindee Arnett

Originally, I didn’t have any preorders until August, but then I FINALLY started reading Onyx & Ivory this month, and well. Here we are. I kind of feel like Arnett watched Two Towers when she was little and then decided that, in her adult life, she had to write a book about the Rohirrim, and that’s what she set out to do with this duology. It’s fantastic. I’m only halfway through still, and I freaking love it.

The amount of excitement I have building inside of me at the opportunity to return to the world of The Dark Crystal is honestly not something that can be put into words. It’s like one of those weird things that no one knows about me and is always surprised to find out. I have read literally everything I can get my hands on, and I’m not sure how these books keep getting published, but I am here for it.

Five Dark Fates by Kendare Blake

Last we chatted, I hadn’t yet preordered this since it didn’t have a cover, a title, or a for sure release date, but it is now officially on my list! The titles make me giggle a little, and this one was pretty great because my friend, Erin, was going, “I don’t know what they’re called. One something and Three something, watch, she’s going to skip four and it’ll be Five something.” I am pretty impressed with Blake for managing to keep the trend, though, and despite the giggle-worthy titles, I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS ENDING!

Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell

I AM GOING TO PERISH.

I was going to jokingly say that’s it, that’s my whole freak-out, but like, that’s not wrong? This book is going to destroy me. Look at how gay that cover is. I am going to perish.

Full Throttle by Joe Hill

Am I losing my mind over this? Yup. You can always count on me to preorder a Joe Hill book no matter what it’s about, and I am hoping and praying with all of my fingers and toes crossed that he goes on tour so I can finally get something signed by him. I literally own everything he’s ever published, and I currently only have one book outstanding that I haven’t read (not including this, obviously). AND it’s coming out on October 1st! This is going to be the best start to spooky month ever.

The Whispering Wars by Jaclyn Moriarty

IT’S FINALLY UP FOR PREORDER! I keep checking back on this book to see if it’s up yet, and it’s finally here! I absolutely adored the first book in this series, and it is actually only the second middle grade ever that I’ve preordered. Maggie Stiefvater & VE Schwab are two of my auto-buy authors, so I don’t really count them when I preorder things, but before this, I’d only ever preordered The Last Life of Prince Alastor by Alexandra Bracken. It’s gotta take something special for me to preorder a MG, so that means I’m hella excited for this.

The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black

This may be the preorder I’m most shocked about. I had absolutely no intention to preorder this, and if you’ve followed along on my blog, I’ve probably done several rude comments in strikethrough about Cardan, but guys, The Wicked King tried to murder me. Actual murder. It was wonderful.

Apparently September is going to be a good month? Are any of these on your list? Or are there others you’re super excited about? Let me know in the comments below!

I try not to pay a lot of attention to what books are coming out months from now, cause I have zero chill about waiting. But I’m so excited for Wayward Son! That cover is perfection!

I just removed Onyx & Ivory from my TBR cause I’d forgotten why I wanted to read it and I haven’t heard a lot about it. But I’m gonna put it right back right now, cause it sounds wonderful.

Oh my gosh, same! I just end up preordering everything and then completely forget, so when they show up in the mail, it’s such a confusing, but wonderful surprise, haha.

It tooks me ages to finally read it, but it’s honestly worth it. It’s so well written, and there are so many horses that, truly, it reminds me A LOT of the Rohirrim, plus the characters are lovely, the magic system is different, and the plot is keeping me guessing. I just love the world so much, and I can’t wait to finish it. I hope you enjoy it!

So many good books!!! I’m also going to perish when I finally get my hands on Wayward Son. And I’m also so excited for Five Dark Fates! Though the numbers jumping around does confuse me a lot lol
