Beta Reader Needed!

Alright, fellow writers/readers, I need your help.

Prague | anne.bryce

My editors have had to step back due to other life commitments, and I am in need of help!  I write mostly YA high fantasy & urban fantasy, most of my characters are LGBTQ+ and/or POC, and there’s almost always magic involved.  (Similar to: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, A Darker Shade of Magic by Victoria Schwab, Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody)  I can’t offer anything other than my undying gratitude, but would love to be able to exchange works if you’re a writer, as well.  I’m not looking for grammar or sentence structure edits, just general world-building, if things make sense, character development, the big picture kind of stuff, etc..  If you’re interested in either reading and/or exchanging, please let me know!  I’m currently in the middle of querying for one of my novels, but it’s part of a series, and only the first novel has been read through and edited by someone that’s not me.

I’d also 100% be interested in forming/joining a writing group.  I both really need someone to read my work, and I also really, really miss being able to talk about writing with people who also love words an inordinate amount.

he turned to face the water, the sunlight hitting his bear back, his pale freckle covered skin gleaming.

If you’re curious about my writing, I talk about it in the mary writes tag on here.  If you’re curious about the specific novels I’m working on right now, this is the tag for it. (That’s what I’m currently working on, but I have a few other novels in the wings that will be finished soon and that I’d love to be able to get feedback on, as well, if interested.)  If you’re curious about my style, the only thing currently accessible online is my fanfiction and the earliest draft of the opening chapter of my current novel.

If this sounds appealing to you, please drop a comment below!

Mary, as a writer who has looked for Beta readers, and an avid reader myself, I would love to read your work. I would also be interested in exchanging work. I have a book I just self-published and I am working on the second in the series. If you are interested please let me know. You can see my personal writing style on my blog @mjaimesserrano.com. I too miss the interaction between word addicts. Have a wonderful day.

Sorry for the late response! I’m only just now settling down after the day. Thank you so much for reaching out! I really appreciate it. And congrats on self-publishing!

I am hoping to stay within the same genre/age group (fantasy YA) since that’s most of what I read and write, so I don’t think we’d be a good fit. I wish you all the success in your upcoming novel, though, and thank you again for responding!

I’m the worst! I’m sorry I’ve dropped off the face of the earth as far as Saints 2 is concerned. I truly do have every intention of getting back to it and finishing it as soon as I have a chance! And I apologize, I know how difficult it is to find people to read.

Honestly, no worries! I know you have a lot going on right now, and I respect that. You are the most important person in your world, and if you empty your well without refilling it, that’s not good. Take the time you need.

I just also happened to lose everyone else at the same time, so I’m on a little life raft over here, haha.
